About Gabby

Gabby Jackson
Founder, Connect First – Bridge the Gap

I am committed to helping educators develop the emotional awareness we were never formally taught—so classrooms can become places of connection rather than control.

This work is not about being perfect.

It is about becoming conscious.

And it is work I continue to practice every day.

My work focuses on what happens beneath communication — nervous systems under stress, inherited patterns, and the habits we fall back on when tension rises.

I work primarily with educators who want to respond with clarity instead of reaction, and who understand that the way adults communicate shapes the environments children and communities grow inside.

Connect First brings together emotional development, nervous system awareness, and needs-based communication into practical, real-world application.

This is not theory delivered from a distance.

It is informed by years in education, leadership, and coaching—in classrooms, staff rooms, and moments where staying regulated was not easy.

The focus is simple.

Slow down what is automatic.
Name what is happening beneath the surface.
Build the capacity to respond with intention.

Connection is not accidental. It can be learned.

Most adults were never explicitly taught how to understand what is happening inside them under stress. We were not shown how to recognize our emotional state in the moment, identify the needs driving behavior, or stay present when things feel difficult. We were not taught how to communicate without falling into control, compliance, or withdrawal.

Without these skills, we repeat what we have inherited—even when we want something different. We find ourselves reacting in ways that do not fully reflect who we are, especially in the moments that matter most.

But when adults begin to build emotional awareness and communication capacity, something begins to shift. Homes become steadier. Classrooms become safer. Workplaces become more collaborative.

The change begins internally and extends outward.

We cannot change what we were never taught. But we can choose what we learn next and what we model going forward.

Every adult who develops emotional awareness shapes more than a single interaction. They influence the tone of a home, a classroom, or a workplace.

This work is not about being perfect. It is about building the capacity to stay connected to yourself under stress. It is about understanding your nervous system instead of fighting it, and choosing awareness instead of reaction. It is about practicing the skills you may not have been given and using them in real moments.

When adults begin to do this work, something shifts. Children experience greater safety, clarity, and consistency. Classrooms feel steadier. Relationships become more honest and less reactive.

And over time, those shifts begin to ripple outward. Patterns change. Environments change. What once felt automatic becomes a choice.

This is the work of Connect First – Bridge the Gap. It is not a program to complete. It is a practice that, over time, leads to meaningful and lasting change.

If you are ready to grow—not perfectly, but consciously—this is where it begins.
